Let’s not forget to acknowledge Alexandre Dumas this Black History Month
The writer of two of the most well known stories worldwide, The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo was a black man.
That’s excellence.
Let’s not forget that he was played on screen by a white man. And the fact that he was black is barely ever mentioned or the book he wrote inspired by his experiences.
The phonetic alphabet was developed as a way to spell things out over radio communications that may be less then ideal, I.E. a lot of static or weak signal. All the words were chosen because they have a distinct sound that is easy to pick out. Military and police communications use the phonetic alphabet heavily and can be helpful to know for talking over CB’s or FRS (walky talky) radios.
I’m sorry guys, i had to
I cannot fucking believe it is the yEAR 2017 GOD DAMMIT
The worst part is, I knew exactly what that was going to be before I read it
And I still read it
The NATO Alphabet should be required for anyone whose job involves talking on the phone. Nothing drives me crazier than customer service reps doing the “A as in apple, B as in Bob” thing (often choosing words that ARE NOT THAT PHONETICALLY DIFFERENT THAN OTHER WORDS)
i feel like crying!! no wait i’m ok!! oh my god i’m so in love!! wow i’m ugly and gross and probably the worst!! wait!! i’m ok again!! time to cut all my hair off!! time to cry again whoops haha!!!!
I don’t know if you’ve actually seen this episode, but Pam invites the entire office to her art show that she’s been gearing up for for a really long time. Nobody shows up except for Oscar and his partner (and they critique her work, calling her “lacking in courage” among other things, not realizing she is standing right behind them) and then Michael. And Michael is the only one who tells her she is great just for putting herself out there, and the only one who places value on what she’s done, and he points out all the little details she got right and notices absolutely every bit of hard work she put into it. And then treats Pam like the artist she is by not just paying her for her art, but displaying it where literally everyone can see it.
how do people not swear??? like where does their anger go?? how do they show their enthusiasm??? what if they stub their toe??? like saying golly gosh isn’t really gonna cut it barbara
